" I regret taking good care of my skin." - said no one ever I've finally finished my Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation that I have been using for basically the last two years and have since been on the lookout for a foundation for days I want to feel more put together and less Britney Spears pre-breakdown. No hate, I think she looks gorgeous now and I admire her work ethic as well as her ability to bounce back up after somewhat hitting rock bottom. YOU GO BRITNEY! So after a few months of searching and going foundation free ( I've just been using the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness just to cover some of my redness around my nose and in between my brows, legit no makeup -makeup look), I have found my new little favourite- The NYX Total Control Drop Foundation (in the shade 07, Natural). Everyone on the internet has been reviewing it, most people say that it doesn't have enough coverage but for me I love that 'your skin but better' look; I think it definitely fits that bill. I use one drop on each side of my face and spread it out. The directions state, 1-2 drops (light coverage), 3-4 drops (medium coverage) and 4++ drops (full). It is also meant to be applied with a brush because sponges tend to soak all the product up because of how liquid-y the consistency of the foundation is. I just use my hands because again, it looks natural and God gave us fingers anyways. Here's my latest skincare revelation, I've really bona back to the basics and have given all the serums and what-nots a break. Just good ol' organic (make sure it's certified organic when you check the packaging) RoseHip Oil. This liquid gold does wonders, even for oily skin. I have combination skin that occasionally gets sensitive and this helps smooth out all my dry patches as well prevent my T zone from shining bright like Rihanna's diamonds. It also helps calm sensitive or irritated skin and evens out complexion, smoothes out texture and heals hyper pigmentation or pimple marks. Plus its cheaper than most serums on the market, I got mine for about RM50 and I use 1-2 drops day and night. Will last me for a good eternity and more. WHERE MY CHEAPSKATES AT?! *drops mic* We are great and all, but we are not invincible. Especially not from the sun. I do not want to sound like that 57 year old aunty that smells strongly of Talcum powder, but you gotta wear sunscreen! If you're like me and hate that greasy feeling of having sunscreen on then I have tried and tested these two. TAKE MY WORD FOR IT! The neutrogena one I got in Melbourne and probably would be harder to find here in Malaysia but a good dupe would be the Biore Aqua Sunscreen (Light blue with a white cap). These are for normal to combination skin. For oily skin girls, the Biore UV Colour Control CC Milk is perfect to double as a light foundation + sunscreen. Super oil control and very long lasting, this sunscreen lasted me through the Butterworth Fringe Festival; NO BUDGE NO SMUDGE. As for makeup products, the MAC Prep + Prime is my favourite setting spray/finishing spray/ priming spray/ anything spray. The mist has a really good consistency and it's super duper fine so it doesn't feel you're spraying a water hose directly onto your face. The Makeremake makeup remover has been my go to for cleaning my face (yeah, use it on my whole face). Easy, and it removes even the most stubborn mascaras like a breeze. It is a little bit oily so I always follow up with either a baby wipe or a face wash (THE FACE SHOP RICE WATER BRIGHTENING FACE WASH, DO YOU HEAR ME? YES? YES!) And recently I've been enjoying coral blushes, this NYX blush is super pigmented and yet it blends into the skin so beautifully. I've yet to be disappointed by any NYX product and they're all fairly reasonably priced. Though I've heard the ombre blushes ain't that great but I've never tried it. My last little secret for preventing breakouts. Witch Hazel as a toner, and diluted tea tree oil for pimples. Works like a charm. Thought I'd end with my current favourite perfume, and a good pun. Because why not. Thanks for sticking around folks, this month has just been something else but I'm excited to be involved in some exciting things in Kuching. One of 'em is TEDxKenyalang. Will be doing a post on that this weekend and also, the Butterworth Fringe Festival Video will be released tonight on my Youtube Channel, so keep your eyes peeled for that! xoxo Joyce
