31.03.2018 THE FACE SHOP - Wisma Sanyan, Sibu Behind every girl, is a skincare line. For those of you that haven't been following, you'd probably missed some snaps from my quick little trip to Sibu with The Face Shop Malaysia. We had a super early flight and to be honest and I wished I did a little more research about the places to visit in Sibu before actually going. We ended up at a karaoke joint for 3 hours after the event, but I did sing my heart out, lost 70% of my voice and eat a my body's weight of kampua mee. I will be back for kompia and mee sua! This was the very first launching of THE FACE SHOP in Sibu, and it's located in Sibu's tallest Mall, Wisma Sanyan. I found that THE FACE SHOP definitely stood out the most among all the other stores because it was 10x brighter than the entire mall ( joking, not really). Well, it was all a pretty grand ordeal with lion dancing and free coffee-bean roasted coffee (not 3-in-1, such luxury), and also free gifts for the first 88 customers. You know how people are with free things... The place was so packed I could barely find a spot to stand in. Plus, there was also a huge deal in-store for the first few days. BUY 2 GET 1 FREE! So the shopping spree began, and despite the overcrowding and enthusiastic crowd, I found that all THE FACE SHOP sales representatives were so calm and composed. Offering their help left, right, and centre; while I was just wriggling through the crowd to try out all the new testers. (guilty pleasure!) It was good fun. I honestly think that THE FACE SHOP's makeup products are quite underrated. They are usually known for their skincare but I would highly recommend trying out some of their makeup. I love love LOVE their bb cushions and their lip products are super worth it for the price tags. SKINCARE REVIEW t r i a l l e n g t h : 4 - 8 w e e k s Here's the thing about reviewing skincare, it's always a little bit tricky. You can't just chuck on everything at once because it your skin does react well/badly, it'll be hard to pinpoint what is working and what isn't. So it's like a slow process of introduction and elimination. My skin: Oily-combination, occasionally sensitive, prone to Redness P/s: prices include 6% GST 1. THE THERAPY - Hydrating Tonic Treatment (RRP: RM128.15) If I could compare it to something, I would say it functions kinda like the Missha Time Revolution Essence or like an affordable version of SK2. However, it focuses less on brightening but more on hydrating and shooting out textured skin. It's suppose to be used like a toner before moisturiser but on more humid days I can get away with using this as a serum-like moisturiser too. A little goes a long long way, the consistency is not as watery, almost an in-between of a serum/ gel-like liquid. No strong detectable scent, nice glass packaging (not as travel friendly but super aesthetically pleasing, PRIORITIES GURL) and definitely leaves the skin nice and plump. 2. WHITE SEED Spotlight Radiance Cream (RRP: RM 131.13) & THE THERAPY Toning Moisture Blending Formula Cream (RRP: RM185.39) Between the two, I'd say I prefer THE THERAPY cream more because of it's consistency and also application. I can see how the WHITE SEED cream would be really popular among fighter skin tones because I visibly brightens (read: lighten) your overall face colour. However, because I am leaning towards the more tan complexion, it can make me look a little bit ashy or washed out. Both are still generally good face cream, apply light-handedly to avoid looking like a grease ball but if you are on the drier side or are more "of age" then go ahead and layer it on for that glass skin korean look. Again, no strong detectable smell and I generally feel safe putting anything from THE FACE SHOP on my face because it's all natural and never breaks me out. 3. Anti-Darkening Cushion V203 (RRP: RM 104.83) and CC Long-Lasting Cushion SPF50+ PA+++ V203 (RRP: 104.83) I have always been either a powder foundation or sheer liquid foundations kind of girl. Until I tried these cushion compacts and its just been a game changer because they are so lightweight and easy to use. It's basically goof-proof. The only thing to be more aware of is picking your shade, that makes or breaks the "desirability" of the product; and also the kind of finish you want (I like everything natural so I usually opt for light to medium coverage). Among the two bb cushions, I've reached for the anti-darkening cushion on many occasions. It has a slight citrus-y smell to it but it blends like a dream and the coverage it good. I use about 1-2 presses for my entire face and it serves as both moisturiser, spf and base makeup on my lazier days. The CC Long-Lasting Cushion is great too but a tad bit too high coverage for my liking, especially for my day-to-day. If you are going for the full glam and want a flawless base, then I highly recommend you giving it a shot. 4. THE THERAPY Boosters (Rejuvenating & Firming) (RRP: RM 93) LIMITED EDITION Among all the new releases in THE FACE SHOP, I am particularly fond of these ones because they are so fun-reaking cute and they can be mixed into my makeup. Just makes me feel like my makeup is a whole new level of luxe. The consistency of a water-serum, I just add 2-3 drops of these into my concealers or foundations and blend away. I feel like it not only adds the benefits of skincare onto my face (which, Hallelujah! who doesn't want that), but it also helps my foundations blend more seamlessly. My favourite thing about makeup is when it doesn't look like you have any on. These boosters have found their spot into my everyday routine and I think I'm gonna need to stock up because they are limited editions! 5. Super Cover Concealer (currently on sale RRP: RM23.80), Flash Pink Powder Beam (currently on sale RRP: RM 23.27) and Bare Skin Loose Powder (not sure if this is discontinued or only available in stores) The underrated goodies. I love the super cover concealer, especially mixed in with the boosters. It's so high coverage, it could cover your sins. Tbh, I'm not much of a highlighter girl so I usually would just skip past all the highlights but the flash pink highlighter is so subtle that it just looks like that "glass skin" effect.
Overall, I only have praises to sing for THE FACE SHOP. A lot of these products were gifted to me however my reviews are honest and I would definitely recommend them as they formulated with natural products and your skin will thank you for it. Do note, it is important to figure out your skin type before trying skincare products because its best you pick the right products for your skin concerns. Do introduce new products one at a time to avoid allergic reactions or breaking out. xo Joyce

Left & Right is probably one of my favourite Borneo jewellery makers because they really are one of kind and the founders are the most genuine people you would ever meet. I feel like they are incapable of being mean, only positivity runs through their bloodstream and they will go above and beyond in serving you. Legit 5 star service commitment! They recently collaborated with a kebaya designer and demonstrated the many wears you could dawn both the pieces together (kebaya & jewellery). I'm not sure if you guys know it, but my family's origins are boba nyonya (chinese peranakan), so I have a few kebayas myself and I've always thought that kebayas are really elegant and beautifully crafted. The Left & Right atelier is unlike any other. The house itself really has character and rustic qualities, every angle is instaworthy. If you're from Kuching, you should definitely pay it a visit. The only thing I can claim credit for it the table deco. I had a bomb putting it together and part of felt like becoming a party-table-decorater (if there is such a job). If you haven't seen their beautiful jewellery pieces, you should check them out. It's simple, beautiful and easy to wear either on a daily basis or as signature pieces. Plus, they're like the new trendy place to get bespoke engagement rings. *HINT HINT* xo Joyce Shentel's Tea Party x Shiseido Malaysia Ah greetings strangers! Note: I swear I must be THE most inconsistent blogger in the world but yeah I've just been trying to do grown up things, like work, and yeah, work. So now after a pretty hectic two months, Iv'e decided to go through the 10,000++ pictures in my camera roll and sort of briefly take you on the ride that is my life. Okay, I will stop jabbering on. Here's what's been happening. January Got invited to one heck of a tea party, hosted by none other than Shentel (this lady can do no wrong). Shiseido Future Solution LX. Shiseido has always been a reputable brand, not much explanation needed on that part. I mean, I've heard my mum mention it growing up and I've seen it on all the expensive counters ever since I started high school and I remember dreaming that maybe one day when I grow up and do grown up thing (a.k.a WORK), then I'll be able to afford something like Shiseido. Well, it definitely must work because I swear all the ladies around me didn't look a day over 20 with their perfect complexion and I'll be honest, it's not the most affordable line #sheseidofuturesolutionlx ... BUT, there is a season and time when you can fork out that kind of investment for yourself. Mum always told me that when we were growing up she really tightened her belt to help the family save as much as we could to give my sister and I literally the best opportunities for everything and anything. So, if I could say that somebody deserved the pampering and the luxury of such a skincare line... It'll go to all the moms out there that deserve the very best because you were our FUTURE SOLUTION, therefore it's time you splurge and enjoy the fruits of your labour. I know what I'm getting mom for mother's day this year. *hint hint* _____________ More photos of the beautiful event. Venue: Old Courthouse Date : 19th January 2018 Tea leaves reading. Delicious food. Hand massages. Great company. Sun, buns and a whole lot of fun. 23.12.17 #growlautogether I spent about 4 years in Melbourne for my university education and honestly it was some of the best years of my live. There's something about the place, the weather, the food; however, it's truly about the people. The community I've come to call family comprises of a whole bunch of Malaysians and second gen- Malaysian-Australians that serve in our city church Life Expedition. Recently, one of my childhood friends got married and it was such a precious time having all of us gather to celebrate this occasion with her. I swear, this was THE most elaborate DIY bridal party I've ever attended and what made it even better was that I got to unite with all my childhood besties. How beautiful does everything look! My OG crew. The games were so well thought of, and we all designed our own bras for the wife to be. Our group won btw! It was a season of laughter, happy tears, a heck load of DIY paper cutting, photo booths and chats till the wee hours in the morning. This trip made me realise how blessed I am to have been surrounded by such a loving and inspiring community all my life and how God has really been so gracious to us all. I will always have a special place for Melbourne in my heart. xo Joyce |
